In the last few weeks, this caucus as well as our state and national caucus have begun working on conservative issues.
First and foremost, this caucus has been working tirelessly to inform the local community of a bond issue in DISD. This issue will bring our total debt in Dayton to over $100 million. There is no way, nor any reason a conservative should support this amount of debt and place it on our children and grandchildren. It is not only unfeasible; it is immoral. Nothing can explain how a town of under 8000 needs to be saddled with this debt, or an ISD of only 28,000.00 with only 5,00 kids enrolled.
It saddens us to see even some republican leaders championing this sort of finical burden on our community, but it is not surprising. If we are honest with ourselves, we didn't get into $17 trillion debt as a nation via only one side of the isle. This is where voter education is most important. Conservatives do not support such waste of tax dollars. Republicans, may. This is where support of groups such as the RLC and your local Tea Parties are of the most importance. Conservatives fight for our values and though sometimes our very own party disappoints, we have associations to let our leaders know loud and clear they are off track in their thinking.
The RLC is a conservative 527 group working on conservatives ideals our republican leaders lose track of from time to time. We also proudly support the republican party, the home for conservatism. We do not, however, support our leaders who stand against taxation proposed by one party, but allow it via our own. We do support reducing government overreach, but do not support leaders who propose more of this activity and claim conservative values. We seek to keep our conservative values strong and not allow them to be watered down by republicans in name only. THIS is why we educate voters.
Lastly, as some county parties become unfriendly to conservatives that question stances that are, in effect, different from a conservative view, they try to discredit them, just as they do with Tea Parties. The RLC suffers this just as well. However, there may be a relief that will force the hand of some local parties as the state board moved to proceed with an official auxiliary with the TXGOP. This caucus welcomes that move.
If you wish to seek political activism, seek out your local RLC, Tea Party and Young Republican groups. Usually, you'll find people working in these organizations, whichever you choose, for the same goals. This caucus simply strives for inclusion over exclusion. The goal of the official republican party is not one of message, their goal, rightly so, is to get republicans elected. It is our job as voters and conservatives to assure those republicans are also conservatives.
THOUGH WE APPLAUD THOSE WHO VOTE STRAIGHT PARTY TICKET, PLEASE ASSURE YOU TAKE TIME TO VOTE ON PROPOSALS, AS VOTING STRAIGHT TICKET DOES NOT REGISTER A VOTE ON THOSE ITEMS.
