"It is time to take the fight to Austin. Today I am announcing my candidacy for State Representative District 18. We truly need leaders that will go to Austin and serve the people that elect them. We need leaders that will stand on convictions and not waiver with political winds. We need patriots in office that will above all else, honor the Texas and US constitutions at all cost. I submit to you that I am one of those leaders that will actually stand on the conservative values you expect you’re elected to officials to have. No, I am not a politician. I am simply a husband, father, grandfather, pastor and citizen that is saying enough is enough. I hope you will join me and other constitutional candidates that want to take our state back."
The RLC is always encouraged to see candidates take on established candidates in primaries. Often, it is only at these times we have the opportunity to hear opinions that differ from the standard sound bites of non-challenged races.
Representative Otto is a long serving Representative and widely known in his home areas of Liberty and Dayton. However, his absence from the district, but for election seasons, has not gone un-noticed by this caucus and others. To the Representative's credit, he was in the district twice recently for a Liberty County Republican Party meeting and a dinner with State Senator Nichols and party members. However, this being an election year, we would expect no less.
We strongly suggest you consider all options on your ballot, including Mr. Holcomb. One must not forget the Liberty we treasure as well as our general support for term limits. With that being said, Mr. Otto has been in office 2004-present.
Mr. Holcomb will be speaking at the RLC meeting on November 8, 2013, 7PM, Dayton Civic Center.
